Journey Through Quilting
My passion for quilting goes beyond fabrics and stitches—it's about embracing the cultural essence within each quilt. In Japan, I visited Tokyo and Osaka, learning from master quilters like Misao Jo and Kenzo Jo, the inventors of the Saori loom, and Noriko Endo, a talented quilting artist from Tokyo. Their unique techniques reveal the deep cultural significance behind every piece they create.
Over the past 14 years, I’ve attended top quilting events worldwide, including The International Quilt Festival in Houston for 12 years, all 3 It's a Stitch locations in Houston, Quilt Camp in La Grange, TX, and Sew Vac City, learning from every instructor. Each experience has profoundly enriched my quilting journey.
I've had the privilege of learning from esteemed quilting instructors, including Marina Landi from Brazil, experts from England and the U.S., and Kaffe Fassett. Annie, a BERNINA Brand Ambassador and C&T Publishing author, has especially influenced my skills. Their guidance has refined my technique, deepened my understanding, and inspired my creativity.
I am also an advanced certified instructor by Laura Heine in collage quilting, a technique that combines fabrics into intricate designs. Additionally, I teach "By Annie" patterns and backpacks, sharing my expertise with students eager to learn. This dual role allows me to inspire others while continuing to refine my own art.
Now, I’m channeling the knowledge from years of experience into teaching new students the art of quilting. In my studio, I work with Bernina, Brother, Juki, and Janome machines, offering a range of classes on topics like collage, making backpacks and tote bags, quilting blankets, and color drawing, fostering creativity in each session.
