📍 Location: Donna’s Quilting Respite (3008 Barron Rd, College Station, TX 77845)

📅 Schedule: Classes available by request – flexible to fit your calendar

Duration: One-Day Class (10:00 AM – 6:00 PM)

👥 Skill Level: Beginner–Intermediate (no prior experience required)

💲 Cost: $120 USD (Includes Donna’s professional instruction only; bring your own materials and tools or purchase from our store.)

  • What You’ll Learn:

    • How to read and prepare a Laura Heine collage pattern
    • Fabric selection techniques: choosing motifs, textures & color groups
    • Fussy-cutting for maximum impact & visual interest
    • Layering collage pieces for dimension
    • Creating smooth transitions & blending fabrics
    • Building the snail’s shell with swirls, circles, florals & textures
    • Adding details to the snail body
    • Assembling the “bowl” element
    • Tips for pressing, fusing & stabilizing your collage
    • How to prepare your finished collage for quilting or framing
  • Materials you’ll Need:

    1. Pattern

    2. Foundation & Background


    • Pattern Ease or Pellon 830 — ½ to 1 yard

    • Background fabric — ½ yard (light or low-volume recommended)

    3. Adhesives


    • Steam-A-Seam 2 (NOT Lite) — 4–5 yards

    4. Fabrics

    Bring a good mix of scraps, fat quarters, fat eighths, and fussy-cuttable prints.

    For the Snail Body:


    • Browns, taupe, tans, grays

    • Small textures, dots, subtle prints

    For the Shell:


    • Swirls, circles, spirals

    • Bright colors, tiny florals, textural prints

    • Blues, greens, purples, pinks, oranges

    For Leaves & Accents:


    • Greens (light/medium/dark)

    • Floral motifs, tiny naturals

    5. Scissors


    • Precision collage scissors

    • Small fussy-cutting scissors

    6. Tools & Notions


    • Appliqué pressing sheet

    • Fabric Fuse or glue stick

    • Sharpie ultra-fine

    • Mechanical pencil

    • Iron & small ironing mat

    7. Sewing Machine


    • Not required for collage construction

    • Needed for finishing/quilting

Yes! You’ll leave class with a completed tote bag that you designed and made yourself.
