Led by Studio 180 Design–certified instructor Donna, this four-day Quilting Bootcamp is designed for quilters who want to refine their skills, improve accuracy, and gain a deeper understanding of Studio 180 Design techniques through focused, hands-on instruction.

Donna will guide students step by step through the tools and methods that define the Studio 180 approach, using the Sugar and Spice pattern by Debbie Tucker as the foundation for learning and practice. This immersive bootcamp emphasizes precision, problem-solving, and understanding why the techniques work. Rather than focusing solely on completing a project, the goal is to build confidence and develop transferable skills that students can apply well beyond this single pattern.

Bootcamp Details:

  • Dates: February 2–5
  • Time: 1:00 PM–5:00 PM each day
  • Format: In-person, four-day bootcamp
  • Spots Available: 7 students
  • Cost: $240 total for all four days (sold as a bundle only)

Skill Level: Confident beginners welcome.
This bootcamp is suitable for all levels; however, students should be comfortable using their sewing machine and have basic quilting knowledge. This is not an introductory sewing course.

Pattern: Sugar and Spice by Debbie Tucker
The pattern is required and must be purchased separately. Patterns, Studio 180 tools, fabric, and all other required supplies can be purchased in-store if you prefer.

  • What You’ll Learn

    During this bootcamp, students will:

    • Learn Studio 180 Design techniques taught by a Studio 180–certified instructor
    • Apply these techniques while working on the Sugar and Spice pattern by Debbie Tucker
    • Improve cutting accuracy and piecing precision
    • Learn how to break down complex-looking blocks into manageable steps
    • Receive hands-on demonstrations, guidance, and troubleshooting
    • Build confidence using Studio 180 tools and methods that transfer to other patterns

    Each day allows time for instruction, practice, and questions

    Fabric

    • Fabric for the project
    • Assorted fabrics or fat quarters for pieced blocks
    • Background fabric
    • Binding fabric
    • Backing fabric (if desired)

    Fabric is available for purchase in-store.

    Cutting & Measuring

    • Rotary cutter
    • Rotary cutting mat
    • Additional quilting ruler (6″ x 12″ or similar)

    Sewing & Assembly

    • Sewing machine
      Sewing machines are available to rent in-store (10 hours per day)
    • Sewing Machine Brush
    • Thread (neutral or coordinating colors)
    • Extra bobbins (pre-wound recommended)
    • Seam ripper
    • Fabric scissors or snips

    Pins & Notions

    • Magic Pins /Patchwork pins
    • ByAnnie stiletto or Laura Heine stiletto
    • General quilting notions you prefer working with

    Pressing

    • Iron
    • Ironing board or pressing mat
    • Spray starch or fabric spray (optional but helpful)

    Optional but Helpful

    • Extension table for your sewing machine
    • Non-slip grips for rulers
    • Notebook and pen for notes

Meet Your Instructor

Donna Galvan is an advanced Studio 180 Design instructor and an advanced Laura Heine certified instructor, bringing a deep level of technical expertise and creative insight to her teaching.

Known for her patient, supportive approach, Donna focuses on helping students understand why techniques work, not just how to follow steps. Her classes emphasize precision, confidence, and skill-building, creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace.

Whether guiding students through Studio 180 Design methods or Laura Heine–inspired collage techniques, Donna is committed to thoughtful instruction, clear demonstrations, and helping each student grow as a quilter.

Is this a certification course?

No. While Donna is a Studio 180 Design–certified instructor, students will not receive a certificate upon completion. This bootcamp is focused on learning, practice, and technique development.

What is the focus of this bootcamp?

This bootcamp is centered on building skills, improving accuracy, and understanding Studio 180 techniques. The emphasis is on learning the process rather than completing a project.

Do I need prior Studio 180 experience?

No prior Studio 180 experience is required. Confident beginners are welcome, and all techniques will be taught step by step.

Can I purchase supplies at the store?

Yes. Fabric, patterns, Studio 180 tools, and other basic quilting supplies are available for purchase in-store.

Is the classroom wheelchair accessible?

Our classroom is located upstairs and is not wheelchair accessible. However, we are more than happy to assist by carrying supplies upstairs for students who need help. Please let us know when you arrive.

Refund, Cancellation & No-Show Policy

  • Cancellations made 7 days or more before the start date of the bootcamp are eligible for a full refund.
  • Cancellations made less than 7 days before the start date are not eligible for a refund. A store credit may be issued at the studio’s discretion.
  • No-shows or failure to attend any portion of the bootcamp are not eligible for a refund or store credit.
  • Once the bootcamp has begun, no refunds or credits will be issued for missed days or early withdrawal.
